K Type Thermocouples

K Type Thermocouples are widely used temperature sensors designed for temperature measurement and thermal profiling in electronics manufacturing, SMT processes and industrial heating applications.

A K-Type thermocouple is constructed using two dissimilar thermoelement materials: Chromel (Nickel-Chromium) as the positive leg and Alumel (Nickel-Aluminium) as the negative leg. When the measuring junction experiences a temperature difference, the thermocouple generates a small thermoelectric voltage that can be interpreted by compatible temperature-measuring equipment.

In electronics manufacturing, K-Type thermocouples are commonly used with thermal profilers to measure actual PCB and component temperatures during reflow soldering. Thermocouples can be attached at selected locations on an assembly to capture the thermal response of different components, solder joints and PCB areas as the board travels through the oven.

Their wide temperature capability, established standardization and compatibility with thermal profiling equipment make K-Type thermocouples suitable for both electronics manufacturing and general industrial temperature measurement.
