Splicing Clips

Splicing Clips, also known as SMT Splice Clips or Brass Splice Shims, are precision metal connectors used to securely join two SMD component carrier tapes during reel changeover in SMT production.

The clips provide a strong mechanical connection between the end of a depleted component reel and the beginning of a new reel. This allows component feeding to continue without requiring a complete feeder reload.

Splicing clips feature precisely positioned holes that correspond with the sprocket-hole pattern of SMT carrier tapes. Small gripping points secure the clip to the carrier tape and help maintain correct tape alignment through the feeder.

They are commonly manufactured from brass or phosphor bronze, providing the flexibility and mechanical strength required for reliable carrier-tape joining.

When used with a compatible SMT splice tool, the clips help maintain accurate tape alignment, reduce feeder interruptions and support continuous component feeding in high-speed pick-and-place operations.
